I've got this on Vinyl and CD and was listening to the vinyl today. Some of the songs are slightly different, Scratch Like A Cat and Switchblade Serenade at least are both quite noticibly different versions. Does anyone know the reasons for this? They could be single edits on one version but it seems odd that it would be different versions on different formats.

I don't have a reason, but I do know that I've run into the same thing with some of my vinyl records.

One that I can name...is, Siouxsie And The Banshees - Tinderbox.
The song Cities In Dust is a different mix compared to the CD. Same goes for the band JAPAN in their glam-rock days and not their New Romantic Art Music era. Some of their songs on the LPs are a totally different mix than the cassettes and CDs.

Maybe the album was re-released. Murderdolls' Beyond The Valley... got re-released with extra tracks. I think Whitesnake's self-titled (1987) did too, with the alternate version of Here I Go Again.

IT was something they used to happen alot, The Muffs CD, is different from the LP/cassette. I think it was beacause they had 3 different formats to work with at the time.

I never noticed the Spread Eagle, maybe only had the CD, but the video for "Switchblade serarenade" was way different than the CD, it was cut shorter, vocals were different, mix was differenet ex.....

    Here is your answer.

Mixes are ALWAYS different between CDS, Records and tapes!

if you ask anyone who produces these they will tell you this.

every format has different limitations, on records some songs do not come out sounding quite right so they remix it for that format. same with tapes, due to their tendency to emphasize high frequencies.

CDs are an entirely different beast as we all know...

<font size="4" face="Arial">Have not heard that CD in years, could you post up a download link ????

Spread Eagle started in Boston, when I was a teenager. they were called Bang, had a local Radio and Video hit (V66-it was like Boston's- MTV) with a song called "Summertime".
Next they parted ways with the singer, moved to NYC,changed their name to Spread Eagle, got whats his name to sing, and you probably know the rest...

<font size="4" face="Arial">with spread eagle it's not really remixes but reworks. the structure of the songs are different, at least between the cassette and the cd (don't have the LP), not the mix. remove a chorus, add a bridge, shorten a solo, blah blah blah. i don't think in this case it has anything to do with sound limitations of certain media. i know the video version of switchblade is on the cassette.
